After several days of rain, it was pretty much awesome to get outside and enjoy some beautiful weather and to play with my camera. So, i grabbed a friend and we went out and played at Tom Sawyer Park in East Louisville. I used to go there all the time to run on the track.. that track looks pretty daunting right now. i don’t think i could do one lap – may need to consider starting some fitness training here soon…. but that is another post and another day :)
I was so excited to see a field full of dandelions. If you know of one with more dandelions .. please contact me before mowing it all away!!!! i love them.. yes, i know they are a weed.. but they take a great picture. And a photoshoot in a field of dandelions is just what i have been craving :)
Here are some of the A-Mazing photos of our day kicking the dandelions :) kicking dandelions? yes.. that is what i said… if you ever need an activity to do in a field of dandelions.. there is one game you can play.. courtesy of my friend Amy. And it’s very easy to play.. just watch.
I on the other hand wanted to save the dandelion from Amy’s fury.

Every year in Louisville as part of the derby festivities – Louisville puts on the biggest annual firework show in the nation called Thunder over Louisville. I’ve gone in the rain and freezing cold and i’ve gone in the blistery hot – this year the weather was beautiful which means a lot more visitors in Louisville to see Thunder than normal. It was CRAZY with people running around. We were unable to get our favorite spot which meant we had to sit near the vendors – lots of foot traffic coming past us and also through us. One of the girls in our group wasn’t getting so frustrated with people walking through the middle of our tarp that she found caution tape and surrounded our area .. haha… it worked for a bit. She may have gotten yelled at by some passerbys :) ha. Luckily she’s so sweet – she didn’t get beat up!
Unfortunately, my battery on my camera was dying.. but i did manage to save some power to get some shots of the fireworks. Here are some of the highlights from Thunder Over Louisville!!!
One of my best friends came to town to visite and she brought with her – a new friend… so enjoyed having both of them around.
LIGHTS!! to get the excitement going!!

I must admit that shoots with children make me nervous… especially when there are a lot of kids. It’s because you never know what to expect and i want to do a great job for you as your photographer… so i get nervous. But each session always turns out wonderful… and there are lot of funny moments and great photos of children. The extended Dabney family gets together every two weeks to hang out as a family.. which i think is just plain awesome. The Grandma asked me to get photos of her grandbabies – all 9 of them! i was happy to oblige.
Here are a few from the session.. please take a moment and just enjoy all the interactions and distractions in these photos. Kids are so much fun!!

Today- i have been nostalgic thinking about the people in my life. People i can count on and people that encourage me in life and are well, just on my side. I am very blessed to have so many great friendships in my life. I realize that true friendships are rare and beautiful.. and i am so thankful. I really hope you have those types of people in your life. Friends that stick closer than a brother and friends that love you at all times. So blessed to have these women… and even more women in my life (that aren’t pictured below)!! my cup overflows! Love you girls!!

I love going to baseball games but i have a confession… I don’t really watch the game :). I just like the atmosphere of the baseball stadium – with the pretzels and peanuts. And i love going to minor league games especially the Louisville Bats Games because the stadium is smaller and it’s rarely full. Also, i like the fun stuff in between the innings like kids running the bases, the mascot dancing, chances to win free stuff. I basically like to put on a baseball cap and a t-shirt and hang out.. but i don’t usually watch the game. In fact, someone had to tell me who won. Haha. I know … i know.. it’s a shame. But i had a great time :)
Here are some of the highlights….

My camera is amazing. I love it and it has really changed the way i shoot. My favorite part other than the vibrant colors, the 5d Mark ii produces is the bokeh. Bokeh is basically the blurry part -usually found in the background of the person or subject that is in focus. Well. i love it. So much so that i pulled out my 50mm lens (*a great first lens that is so inexpensive) and played around in the yard. Here’s one – but just to warn you.. once you have tasted bokeh.. you will need more – much, much more!!
feel free to right click and save as a desktop image… at least until more bokeh pics come along!!
