Sneak peek

The Morgan Family had wanted me to do their family photos for some time.  I was so glad to finally meet them at a Scarlet Hope fundraiser event where we were able to work out the details.  Tammy was so excited and arranged a beautiful fun setting for us to do an awesome outdoor family photography session.   She found an amazing farm with lots of fun backgrounds and activities that allowed my creative mind to kick into gear.       When her girls first jumped out of the car with their little pink hairbows, I thought “I hope the girls are okay with playing outside.”   They were – in fact, it was hard to keep up with them.   Haha – girly exteriors with a tom boy flare – they were great.  We played in hay bales, we threw leaves and we played with horses.  My goal for every photography session is to create a fun experience that isn’t just about getting pictures done but having a memorable experience as a family.  If I can get some great photos on top of that, then I have done my job.   Here are some of my favorites from the Morgan Family Photo Session.

Meet this little precious baby girl.  I had the honor of photographing her parents for their wedding and now, the honor of photographing their little family.   I never know how a baby session will turn out – because they are just so unpredictable.  I think many parents stress that their child won’t behave perfectly or smile like they are in a Gap catalog.  For all those parents, I say.. Relax.   Not one session, have I had a perfect “model” baby that knows how to smile and work the camera.  Haha… but they always seem to manage just fine and turn on the charm at just the right moment.   Here are some adorable baby pictures from the Miss Luella…

Stephanie and John are such a fun and amazing couple.   They were first neighbors and friends and then it turned into romance.   Such a sweet relationship and watching them together-  giggle and delight in one another was endearing.  At one of these giggly moments, Stephanie looked at me and said, “he’s my best friend.”  A-DORABLE!!  Recently, they entered a contest with THE KNOT and THEY WON!!!  They are getting married on the top of the Empire State Building and they have a free honeymoon in the Bahamas.  I would say that is pretty sweet.   We went to the Louisville Seminary since it represents so much of their relationship – it’s where he first asked her to be his girlfriend and also where he asked her to be his wife.   Here’s some from their amazing engagement photo session.  The following are some my absolute faves – from the Southern Seminary Chapel – we may or may not have snuck in there.   haha.

I sheepishly asked, afraid I might sound like I’m stereotyping “Do you know any Karate?”  John is in the military and when he said he knew some – I had no idea he had so much “ups.”  I told Stephanie to give me a look like ‘yeah, my man has got this.”  Stephanie, if you ever do get in a tough situation – let me just say HE DOES! haha!

We had a short fall in Louisville, so there was definitely a press to get as many sessions in as possible before the leaves fell.  The Franklins got me just in time.  :)   I have known this family since their oldest son was in grade school.  He’s a little bigger now! haha.   This is a wonderful family to know – just generous and loving and you just feel like part of the family whenever you around.   I had so much fun being their photographer.  I love when the session becomes a memorable family experience.  That is my goal with every shoot  – that your family will feel more connected and have some fun memories by the end.   Here are some of the highlights from their Family Photography Session.

Thanks Franklin Family!! I so enjoyed spending the afternoon with you as your photographer!

What can I say about Amanda and Brett?  They are just a genuinely likeable couple.  They laugh a lot and they love deep.  It’s a great combination.   I loved being there as their wedding photographer.  I met them about a year and half ago in Louisville shortly after I started to seriously consider making photography a profession.   Amanda is the type of girl who is a planner and detail oriented and it meant a lot that she entrusted me with her wedding photography.  And we just worked well together – it was a joy.   I was also thrilled that she chose one of my favorite Louisville venues – The Garden of Ray Eden.  Outdoor weddings are my absolute favorite!!  Here are some highlights from Amanda and Brett’s gorgeous outdoor wedding at The Garden of Ray Eden.

Before I continue with their wedding coverage, I wanted to give you a little look into their rehearsal dinner which was absolutely beautiful.   The Tucker House created an amazing atmosphere with candles and lights and of course, wonderful food that was just sublime.   Here are a few highlights of the evening:

Like most teenage guys, Clark has a fascination with cars.    However, not only does he admire vehicles, he also works on them.     He is even restoring an old volkswagon beetle.   I think that is pretty cool.   We had a great time on his senior portrait session.   We spent most of our time in LaGrange, KY (just north of Louisville).   Here are some of the favorites from his senior photography session.  Just a warning – there may be a few car photos.

The Kellers are one of my favorite families.   I have had so much fun getting to know this family.  We traveled a little north of Louisville to find a great country place where Kenny Keller was commissioned for his stone masonry skills.   He really is quite talented – you should check out his blog.  This place was so scenic from a rope swing and old barn to a beautiful field.  Here are some of my favorite photos with this awesome family.

The Ball Family is one of my favorite families in Louisville.   For one, they are pretty much zany.  Yep, I said zany… that is probably the best word to describe them.  They are just fun – people just like to hang out with them – single people, college students – pretty much everyone.  I think that is pretty awesome if your family just makes everyone feel at home and included.   That’s how I feel with them.   Here’s some with my session with the incredible zany Ball family :)

I love this ring shot from their wedding .. because i am a snoop and ask tons of questions about their lives, I discovered that this is the beer that they had on their first date.  It’s their drink.. they went from sharing a drink – to sharing their lives.   AWWWWW  :)  I know – so deep.  haha.   Melissa and Steve had a beautiful small wedding in Louisville.   The whole wedding – ceremony and reception was just plain sweet.  I mean that literally and figuratively – since Melissa and her whole family can cook – they put a high premium on quality food and fortunately, I was able to appreciate it fully.  haha.   Here are some of the highlights from the wedding and intimate reception here in Louisville.  I loved being their photographer.

One of my favorite parts of the wedding, was this tub of beer!  They had so many different kinds and they were labeled for the person who liked that type of beer.  Such a thoughtful and personal touch, I thought.
