It’s really unfair for you to expect me to keep this photography blog about an adorable baby short. It was so hard to pick!!! I love everyone of z-man’s little baby pictures. He is just too presh (yes, that’s a word). This little one has been through a lot in his short life so far. Ezekiel is a fighter and his parents are just as amazing. Here are some of my favorites from his louisville family session. Please vote for your faves (as many as you like).

43 votes // vote as favoriteI love Louisville, KY because you have the best of both worlds – city and country. Right next door to Louisville is the city of Crestwood – with lots of farms and beautiful fields. I’m kinda in love with fields and barns – so it’s perfect for me. Although I was told by some local men, that I needed to be careful coming back in these ‘neck of the woods’ since deer season has started. I think I’ll get an orange vest :) but a cute one. Orange is in now anyway!! That was a pretty girly statement. It’s amazing to me when parents tell me their kids are very girly and then as soon as we hit the outdoors, they are climbing things, playing in hay and exploring the barn. I love it!! This was totally me as a kid – I think my mom wanted me to be more girly than I was! I much preferred going on adventures, walking down trails and making forts. However, I will admit that I totally loved playing with barbies too. Us girls, well we are just complex people, you know. Here are a few more little girls that will become beautifully complex as well. Feel free to pick your favorites – and yes, you can pick more than one! I did.. it’s part of being complex :) haha

39 votes // vote as favoriteI want you to know that when I first met this family, the girls wanted nothing to do with me. In fact, they ran from the camera and hid behind mom. This is why a professional photographer with good interacting skills comes in handy!! By the end of the day, they were pouting because they didn’t want to leave. I, on the other hand, was exhausted – haha!! I love it when they start to warm up and every picture becomes more natural.

The Morgan Family had wanted me to do their family photos for some time. I was so glad to finally meet them at a Scarlet Hope fundraiser event where we were able to work out the details. Tammy was so excited and arranged a beautiful fun setting for us to do an awesome outdoor family photography session. She found an amazing farm with lots of fun backgrounds and activities that allowed my creative mind to kick into gear. When her girls first jumped out of the car with their little pink hairbows, I thought “I hope the girls are okay with playing outside.” They were – in fact, it was hard to keep up with them. Haha – girly exteriors with a tom boy flare – they were great. We played in hay bales, we threw leaves and we played with horses. My goal for every photography session is to create a fun experience that isn’t just about getting pictures done but having a memorable experience as a family. If I can get some great photos on top of that, then I have done my job. Here are some of my favorites from the Morgan Family Photo Session.

Meet this little precious baby girl. I had the honor of photographing her parents for their wedding and now, the honor of photographing their little family. I never know how a baby session will turn out – because they are just so unpredictable. I think many parents stress that their child won’t behave perfectly or smile like they are in a Gap catalog. For all those parents, I say.. Relax. Not one session, have I had a perfect “model” baby that knows how to smile and work the camera. Haha… but they always seem to manage just fine and turn on the charm at just the right moment. Here are some adorable baby pictures from the Miss Luella…

32 votes // vote as favoriteWe had a short fall in Louisville, so there was definitely a press to get as many sessions in as possible before the leaves fell. The Franklins got me just in time. :) I have known this family since their oldest son was in grade school. He’s a little bigger now! haha. This is a wonderful family to know – just generous and loving and you just feel like part of the family whenever you around. I had so much fun being their photographer. I love when the session becomes a memorable family experience. That is my goal with every shoot – that your family will feel more connected and have some fun memories by the end. Here are some of the highlights from their Family Photography Session.

The Kellers are one of my favorite families. I have had so much fun getting to know this family. We traveled a little north of Louisville to find a great country place where Kenny Keller was commissioned for his stone masonry skills. He really is quite talented – you should check out his blog. This place was so scenic from a rope swing and old barn to a beautiful field. Here are some of my favorite photos with this awesome family.

The Ball Family is one of my favorite families in Louisville. For one, they are pretty much zany. Yep, I said zany… that is probably the best word to describe them. They are just fun – people just like to hang out with them – single people, college students – pretty much everyone. I think that is pretty awesome if your family just makes everyone feel at home and included. That’s how I feel with them. Here’s some with my session with the incredible zany Ball family :)

As I post this entry, I keep singing in my head “Baby mine, don’t you cry. Baby mine, dry your eyes.” Babies’ crying slay me.. i just have to pick them up right away. I made her cry in the beginning of this shoot… i put her on a cold surface and she just didn’t want to be there. Although – it is a great picture.. i just don’t have the heart to post it. Haha.. i am such a softie!! This is Ansley.. and she is super precious!! Welcome to the world Ansley and let me just tell you – that you have an amazing family who is pretty much crazy about you! I think she is trying to tell her Daddy something.. like watch out I’m gonna pee all over you. haha.

I have to admit that taking photos of children is probably the hardest for me. As a children’s photographer, I have to be on the move so that i don’t miss anything. I have crawled on the floor, i have rolled in the grass.. i have jumped up and down (while taking pictures).. i have made goofy faces and noises — just to try and get a reaction for a brief moment. haha. Children’s photography is fun but exhausting. Imagine my surprise to walk in and have this little girl – take my hand and proceed to show me around. I said smile and she did, i said laugh and she did. She was the easiest child i have ever photographed. Seriously.. she made this way easy. I mean i did have to get in the bathtub… but overall the easiest photoshoot i have had with children. Here are the highlights…
