Jenny totally reminds me of a friend I used to have at Camp Piomingo who I just loved for her sense of humor and her relaxed demeanor. I was so happy that she chose me to photograph her wedding. One of my favorite parts about Engagement sessions is that I get the opportunity to watch a couple interact and to get to know them a little better. They are a great couple and so laid back. Here are some of my favorites from their Engagement shoot in Anchorage Park.

My favorite statement from Mallory was “we loved the stuff you sent us, our only concern is deciding which flannel shirt to wear.” LOL – love these two!! I was so excited for their engagement session, but when they said they were picking me up in a truck. I had no idea…. they meant TRUCK. I needed a ladder to get in – lol. The truck, the flannel shirts, the cowboy boots, the rustic cabin, the huge farm and the pond – all just fit them perfectly. Adam is a football player- he played at UofL as the QB this last year and Mallory worked at the stadium where he practiced and played. Adam liked her from the start and was determined to go out with her. Mallory wanted nothing to do with him – she assumed him to be different than what she wanted. Adam didn’t give up and by some amazing change of circumstances.. they ended up getting to talk and Mallory saw the real Adam and fell in love. After that, they were together all the time. They are just as genuine and laid back in real life as they appear and I just thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. I can’t wait for their backyard wedding and getting to celebrate their marriage in photos. Here are some of my faves from their engagement session. Vote on your faves. I love this first one- they are so into each other.. I think they kinda forgot I was there :).

Couples that laugh a lot will have a long healthy marriage in my opinion. Cory and Erica laugh a lot. I love it. They were such a joy to photograph. Erica had so many amazing props with her, balloons and flowers and numbers for their save the dates. However, since we were going to be taking their engagement photos at Norton Commons, I had to incorporate one more. I am kinda in love with Gelato Gilberto!! When I went to Italy, I had Gelato everyday, sometimes a few times (ok, maybe three). So, of course we had to go there!! LOL. Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session.

One of my first big weddings I ever did was at Undulata Horse Farms in Shelbyville. When Anna asked to do her engagement photos there, I was thrilled because it’s just simply beautiful and perfect for an outdoor photo shoot. So, we got on our boots and made the drive from Louisville to Shelbyville. Undulata farms doesn’t do weddings anymore but Anna managed to charm them enough to let us do her engagement session, we even got a peak inside the mansion. It’s all who you know.. I know Anna.. lol. In fact, I’ve known Anna for a few years now. She used to attend a bible study I led and then we got to go to Kenya together, which interestingly enough is where her and Ben first met. He was a summer missionary there and she came to spend a few weeks in Kenya helping out. They had to travel half way around the continent to meet and once they met, well.. it was all over – they were smitten. And still are :). I have evidence. Here are some of my faves from their engagement shoot. I must warn you there are a lot of faves… my brides are just too photogenic.

What could be better than heading out to Huber’s to do a little strawberry picking – an engagement shoot at Huber’s with an awesome couple!!! Stacy and Kyle love Huber’s Farm and Winery in Starlight, Indiana - it seemed only fitting that we also do their engagement shoot there. They totally rocked their photography session – they are both pretty much gorgeous!! Yes, it’s pretty easy to be their photographer :). And girls, Stacy has a flawless complexion.. yep, she’s gorgeous.. but you can’t be jealous of her for it.. because she is just too nice. They are a great couple. The first time we had a session scheduled – the crazy Louisville weather made us cancel. Stacy was disappointed and Kyle just made her feel better. He’s in love and it’s awesome to see them together. I cannot wait for their wedding this September at The Nunnlea House. It’s going to be a beautiful wedding!! Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session at Huber’s Farm and Winery in Indiana. I love everything about this first photo – romantic and sweet. You can totally tell how much they are into each other :)!!

So, we are getting out of our cars and Mallory starts to show me some props she had brought for her engagement shoot. She is just so creative and crafty!! Then, out comes a burlap sac – I asked, “ooh, what’s this for?” She tells me that those are the runners for her tables at the wedding reception. What???!!! I LOVE!!! Mallory is doing her wedding just like I would do mine. Seriously, I can’t wait for their rustic style wedding at The Talon Winery in Lexington, KY!! The reception will be in a barn.. i know, i know… I LOVE THIS COUPLE!! When we first met, they had me at HELLO.. haha, I am serious! We just instantly clicked. They are pretty cool, they are probably one of the most laid back couples I have ever worked with. After we had gotten settled in at one of my favorite spots( – it’s rustic and lots of tall grass and a rusted out bridge.. perfect for them, btw… ) I realized, i had forgotten my extra disks.. so I seriously had to hike back to get them. I felt so terrible that they had to wait for me. But guess what they were doing while they waited.. laying on a blanket drinking a bottle of wine. Haha!! Seriously… love them!! This was also the couple, that was willing to play in the rain when their first engagement shoot got rained out. You may remember them chasing the ducks :). They are adorable together!! Here are some of my favorites from their recent outdoors, rustic engagement shoot in Louisville. I love this field - I would live in it if it wasn’t for the all the Poison Oak!! But all of us managed to avoid!!!

I love this couple – seriously, they are one of my faves!! I’ve known them both for about a year and think of them like family now. The last professional photos they have had was seven years ago when they got married. They were due- overdue :) !! Just a side note, ladies for when you want to do this – give your husband some advance notice – lol. I mentioned to Josh two days before their photo shoot, so ‘are you ready?” He had no clue.. haha and Rachelle had this planned for weeks. Luckily, he’s a good guy who will do photo shoots because he loves his wife. :) In fact, they might still be a little smitten with one another and they are definitely giggly around each other just like newlyweds. AWW!!! you can say it – too. It’s true. They are not always the most affectionate in front of people but as I’ve been around them and seen them more and more together, they definitely are crazy about each other. There is nothing better as a photographer to celebrate those love relationships and to catch that emotion. The first part of their photo shoot was taken at the Scarlet Hope House – this is the part where I get to brag on my friends. About 3 years ago, Rachelle felt called to impact the sex entertainment industry with a message of hope and love. From there Scarlet Hope was founded and the Scarlet Hope team has been sharing the hope of Jesus Christ in strip clubs every week. You can click on one of the links to check out this ministry in more detail, and in case you are wondering who made the awesome website – that would be none other than Josh, yep – he is crazy talented and has his own business called, Solid Giant. Without his support, Rachelle would not be able to devote the time and attention to this ministry. It truly is a labor of love for both of them.
Speaking of LABOR– for the last two months, they have been working diligently to get the Scarlet Hope House in shape. Recently, someone donated a house to Scarlet Hope and the building will be used as a resource center for women who wish to change their lives for the better. So, for the first part of the shoot – we thought we would show what life has been like trying to get the house ready.

Here are some of my faves from their photography session with me in Louisville’s Garden Court. He pretty much makes her laugh all the time.

David is a huge baseball fan so it’s pretty cool that we were able to get into Louisville Slugger Field to do their engagement photos. I must admit I got pretty excited when they let us get on the field!! The grass is so soft and just being there made you want to run the bases. We totally would have if the grounds crew were not working so hard. Oh, and the grounds crew totally got me with the sprinkler. We laughed a lot on this shoot, which is great since Christina has the prettiest smile. I’ve known Christina for awhile since we went to Kenya together and she let me borrow clothes since my luggage was missing (haha, yes, but that’s another story). However, this is the first time I have gotten to know David. Let me just say.. that they are super sweet together. Yeah, a little smitten for sure. Here are some of their Engagement Photos from Louisville Slugger Field and other parts of Louisville.

People often ask me “what style describes you as a photographer?” I can appreciate so many different styles of photography, that i think I am a hodgepodge of many styles – which makes my work as a photographer uniquely me. I love the classic clean look with a vintage feel and a modern twist. I love details and when I have props to work with.. well.. I get very creative and take a lot more pictures. However, I think what is most important to me as a photographer is capturing and celebrating the emotional connection between people – so that the photographs themselves evoke an emotional response. Would love to know the emotions that these photographs brought up in you! Leave me a comment and let me know. Here is a lighthearted vintage photoshoot between two awesome friends. I absolutely adore this shoot because I love this location I found right outside of Louisville and I love the vintage rustic feel. The field full of rusted metal with the soft look of beige weeds plus an artsy and vintage looking couple made for a great vintage photography session. Enjoy the session.. and let me know your favorites!

Guess who is expecting!! Maternity sessions are a cute way to capture the excitement of new life coming. I tell you one thing, Maria is the cutest pregnant woman I know.. she is so tiny and several times I had to tell her to make her baby belly bigger – haha. Maria definitely has a glow and I think Scott does too..lol. I am looking forward to taking newborn pics in a few months. But for now, here is there awesome Maternity session! We started out at Garden Court at Presbyterian Seminary and then ended up in Cherokee Park. I loved getting to take advantage of one the few sunny days in Louisville lately.
