20 votes // vote as favoriteWe started off the the day at Studio 151 Salon, which by the way is one of my new favorite Louisville salons. I had them do my hair a few weeks later and I loved it. As soon as I walked in, Stacy was so relaxed and just enjoying the day. She started asking me about my vacation and my ministry – it was at that point, I knew she felt completely comfortable with me and that I was a friend. Everything was so laid back, I had to remember to take photos. Just kidding.. I couldn’t stop taking photos.

The two best words I have to describe Erin and Matt’s wedding day is – beautiful chaos. Erin and Matt experienced the most memorable wedding that I have seen to date. They came all the way from Los Angeles, California so that they could have their wedding near family in Louisville, KY. Erin planned the most gorgeous rustic wedding at Yew Dell Gardens, complete with an outdoor dinner served under the trees to wildflowers in tin cans lining the aisle of ceremony. I was there early and took full advantage of the time to capture the scenery.

13 votes // vote as favoriteSeriously – I was antsy to get the pictures of all the beauty and details that she had planned for her outdoor wedding. The day started out wonderfully sunny but the wedding planners kept close watch on the weather because there were threats of a storm brewing. Let me just tell you, Erin surrounded herself with a phenomenal team of vendors for her wedding. You will hear more of how wonderful they were later. Since the couple was coming in from California, I didn’t have an opportunity to get to know them face to face until that day. I met Matt first and I noticed he was a man of quiet confidence and brought a gentle and calming presence (which came in handy later that day), plus he was very intentional and uplifting to those around him. Just a great guy to be around. Erin was just plain gorgeous! I knew she had a dancer background.. and you know how dancers look.. so elegant and confident. Both of them had so many good friends there – it was easy to see why. I liked them both right away and was excited for their day to begin.

I remember Andrew when he was in my 6th grade Sunday School. He was my size then… lol. Now, he’s a senior and he’s over 6 ft tall. He’s still a great young man though. He was always so respectful and kind and just generally a happy contented kid. He was such a joy to teach. And what an amazing blessing to see him all grown up. Still a wonderful and happy young man. We had a great time on his Senior Photography Session. We traveled all around the city of Louisville and found the perfect places for him. Here are some of my favorites of his Senior session.

The Stewart Family is one of my favorites as they are pretty much crazy fun. I still tell the story of all them dressing ridiculous for the church directory picture. They just embrace life with laughter and that is always fun. I’m sure they are thrilled to have Ashley join their family as she is pretty much awesome as well. I traveled down to Lexington to take their engagement photos. We went to some historic and colorful parts of Lexington, KY. And then, they surprised me at the end by jumping in a fountain. See, she fits right in. LOL. By the way, before we even took one photo – a bird literally dive bombed to it’s death at Ashley’s feet. Guess who got the bird out of the way.. not the man, me!! LOL, but I still don’t like to think about it. We weren’t sure if there was a bigger meaning in a bird dying in front of us… apparently it’s good luck — Because they rocked this session out!! Here are some of my favorites from their Lexington Engagement Session.

Charlotte is pretty much adorable.. one of the prettiest little girls I know. Just because she is related to me – does not make me biased at all, in case you are wondering. She is already nicknamed The Diva…lol. She is precious and her mom is a hair dresser so, you know she never leaves the house without looking like a DIVA. Charlotte is also a little miracle baby as her mom and dad tried for some time and with great heartache until she came along. And we are so glad she did. Life is precious you know – something to be grateful for. I know that is how the family feels. So, here are some of my faves. She will be 1 years old soon!!!

I’ve known the Cheong family for about 15 years. Karen has always been a dear friend of mine since we worked together in the fitness program at Southern Baptist Seminary. I used to call her grandma simply because she was a few years older than me and I like to tease :). But now she is actually going to be a legit grandma!! I also babysat her kids once on their anniversary. I say once because I think that is the only time they asked me…lol, but for good reason. They still talk about the time when I got the kids to put about 2 inches deep of confetti on each blade of their bedroom paddle fan for an anniversary surprise. It was a surpise when they came home and turned on the fan to have a snowstorm of confetti filling up their room. Karen recounts that they stood there dumbfounded until they thought “TURN OFF THE FAN.” haha. I love this family – always have. They hold a special place in my heart. I was so thrilled to be asked to do their family photos. Here are some of my favorites – feel free to vote for yours.

33 votes // vote as favoriteThis is Ashley, when she was younger we used to have nicknames for each other. At first, it was something that sounded more negative like goofus or something like that – I actually can’t remember anymore. I decided we should have positive encouraging nicknames… so from then on she was known as ‘gorgeous’ and I was known as ‘beautiful’. It’s pretty awesome to be greeted as ‘hello beautiful’ let me just say. I highly recommend it. So, here is Gorgeous and her handsome husband. They are expecting soon and I know her family is very excited.
29 votes // vote as favoriteWhen Ryan was younger, I remember all he wanted to do was skateboard. He was going a mile a minute – all the time. He always had an idea and seemed completely courageous in trying anything. He was fun to watch and would talk your ear off. He still is a quick thinker and now, keeps everyone laughing – including myself. He is a character and such a fun person to be around. Don’t you just love his mustache!!

26 votes // vote as favoriteWhitney was always my girl when she was younger. She told me once ‘you are glitter and i am glue… because I always stick to you.’ I still see her as that little girl though i know she is now a confident young woman. I prayed for her often as she was growing up and always checked in with her mom to see how Whitney was doing. Anytime it starts raining while the sun is shining, I always think of her little voice and her excitement when she said, “It’s sun raining.” Here she is all grown up and still as beautiful as ever.

I’ve known the Roberts family for quite some time when we all went to church together in Crestwood. They are one of the sweetest and kindest families I know. It’s funny how seeing a boy I used to know who is now young man.. makes me feel old. LOL. I guess that’s what happens when you used to be a youth minister. Yet, I love being with young people. They are just fearless and they are just so full of excitement about their future. It is a pleasure to get know these young people as they start to dream about what could be in their future. I for one, am for them and pray over each one that crosses my path. Here are some of my favorites from Payton’s Senior Photography session.

So, why not have a family shoot there?!! I met Missy through mutual friends who purchased a gift certificate with me for her at Christmas. She asked if we could wait til her daughter was on furlough and I happily obliged. Anything for the men and women who serve our country!!! We had an amazing time! Jenny totally reminds me of a friend I used to have at Camp Piomingo who I just loved for her sense of humor and her relaxed demeanor. I was so happy that she chose me to photograph her wedding. One of my favorite parts about Engagement sessions is that I get the opportunity to watch a couple interact and to get to know them a little better. They are a great couple and so laid back. Here are some of my favorites from their Engagement shoot in Anchorage Park.

21 votes // vote as favoriteI was already a fan of Christina, but now I am also a huge fan of David. I think what did it for me was when he sent me a heartfelt thank you note after their engagement session. Just an all around great guy and Christina – well, you already know from their engagement session how highly I esteem her. I loved being their wedding photographer. Christina and David are doing what so many couples are doing now – doing all their photos before the ceremony, which allows for lots of time for creative and fun wedding photography. We started out at Southeast Christian Church, traveled to 4th Street Live for some fun city photographs and then off to Frazer Museum for the wedding reception. Here are some of my favorites of the day. Christina’s smile just lights up a room, don’t you think?!!
