Sneak peek

You are about to get a little insight into who I am through seeing this wedding since it is my family that I am photographing.  I was blessed enough to be the photographer at my cousin’s wedding and I must say that I got teared up editing the photos.   Yes, I am a softie especially when it comes to my family.   The craziness is very much genetic.. it starts at an early age and never leaves.   haha.  You will also see that my family is not all reserved or introverted – I know you are not surprised.   It’s true and yes, it can be loud.   But I love it.  This wedding was so amazing, I have never seen such a united reception.  I will explain more later – but there was definitely a feel of warmth and connectedness and community which is not at all strange since that is how my family is all the time.  Yet, it was wonderful to see that extended to friends and the whole wedding guest list.    I will say that Ryan’s family was just like my family in their interactions and humor.   Amy did good.. because you don’t just marry a man – you marry a family.  Fortunately for her, they are just absolutely wonderful and crazy like us.   And they are completely in love.

We started out the day where Amy grew up in Ryland Heights.    My cousin had 9 bridesmaids.. yep, 9.  She is such an easy person to love.. her personality is attractive, so I not at all surprised to see her have so many friends.  Although, half the bridal party consisted of her sisters.  Big family, big bridal party and yes, a big reception.   It was a very full and fun day.   Her sister Ella who is a professional hair and makeup artist (also available to do weddings in Northern Ky and Cincinnati )- did an amazing job on her hair.

The makeup artist was a childhood friend who shared a story of how Ella and Amy were playing hairdresser with her and Ella cut her bangs off.  LOL – sounds about right.

The cross was especially important as it was my grandmothers who passed a few years back.  We all were very close to her.  Amy held this cross as she took her vows with Ryan.   The other jewelry belong to her other grandmother who also passed several years ago.  I love all these sentimental pieces at a wedding!!

Amy and Brett are such a laid back and fun couple and so easy to work with as a photographer!   I just felt like I was at home when I was around her friends and family- everyone was just relaxed and took things in stride.   Their demeanor fooled me though when the reception came because they were fierce on the dance floor.   I laughed pretty much all night – so much fun!!  Here are a few of the favorites:

Meet Amy and Ryan.  They have been dating for two years and at a fourth july parade, Ryan proposed.  He unrolled a huge poster and got down on one knee.   Amy was so surprised.   You can tell how crazy in love they are.  Ryan told me he was even willing to skip in a field :)  – haha.  Well, not quite.  We had a lot of fun.  Amy and Ryan love the beach so in the first part of the engagement session.  We did our best to capture that  – well as best you can living in Cincinnati.  Ha!  Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.  You can see all of their pictures - here.

Can’t wait for your wedding in May!!!

Free Photoshoot winner will be announced tomorrow!!!

Kelly and Jonathan found me at a bridal show.  Now, I have only been to one bridal show, but they are not exactly the sit down and get to know each other kind of atmosphere that I prefer.   So,  I am surprised we were even able to connect but we did!!  I am so glad I went just to get to know them.  Kelly’s personality is very much like my own in which we just jump in and figure stuff out as we go.  Kelly and I are people who will just try something and take the risk.   I imagine if it were just us two – we might get in trouble.  Thankfully, Jonathan is more of the wait a minute, let’s think this through kind of guy.  During the engagement session, he said, “maybe we should ask permission before we climb this fence.”  Haha.. stuff like that. Whereas Kelly and I woulda done climbed it! :)  It’s true.   He really is the perfect match for her.  And their wedding was beautiful and classic just like Kelly.   It was such an honor to be able to be their wedding photographer and to become their friend.   Here are some of my favorite photos from their wedding and reception at Audubon Country Club.

I guess i will end with one of my favorite photos.   I get the feeling that this is a something special between the two of them and happens quite often.   See when you’re the photographer, people get used to you being around and you can pretty much eavesdrop – haha.    I didn’t get to hear the whole conversation actually.   I think she may have asked him…    Do you promise to love me forever?  – or -  Can i trust you with every part of me? – or -   maybe she just asked if they could get ice cream later.   …… and then she made him pinky swear :)    I love LOVE!! Congrats Kelly and Jonathan!!!  To see all of their photos – click here.

Melissa and Joe have known each other since middle school.  In fact, Joe was the first boy to hold Melissa’s hand.  Awww… i know, super sweet.  But then tragedy (play dramatic music here)- they must leave middle school and go to high school!!  In a huge school, they were not able to find each other and the romance was forgotten.   Sadness…   Years passed and each became a fond childhood memory in their mind.   Fortunately,  the development of facebook enabled these two to finally reconnect (cue dramatic music).   The spark was still there and soon they realized they were meant to be… :)  A few months later and they are getting married at an adorable bed and breakfast in Augusta, KY.  Asbury Meadows is one of my favorite places to photograph and it was amazing to be a part of this wedding and to be their photographer.    Absolutely loved the feel and look of Asbury Meadows and the little town of Augusta, KY was so cute.  Very vintage country which just happens to be my favorite look.   Lots of old bikes and barns – just thinking about it makes me want to go back.   Here are some of favorite photographs from the wedding.
